Outgrown your home but love where you live? M.Ewald Building manages the whole house raise and build-in as one project, from plans and approvals to lifting and restumping the house, building in underneath and finishing the new level.

Lifting the house and building in underneath can double your living space. You add a full level without starting from scratch and without giving up any of your yard, which is why it suits Queenslanders, pre-war homes and worker's cottages so well.
On a Queenslander, raising means you can add a second floor without compromising the character of the original home. We're used to working within Brisbane's character and heritage guidelines, and our drafters prepare plans that meet Brisbane City Council requirements.
We plan the space underneath around how you want to use it.
Room for a growing family, without giving up the location you love.
A quiet place to work, away from the busy part of the house.
Their own space that's still close by, as they get older.
Living space on the ground, for family who find the stairs hard to manage.
Undercover parking, freeing up the yard and the street.
A separate area that could earn a little extra income, subject to approvals.
This small cottage in Greenslopes was lifted and restumped, a concrete slab went in underneath, and the lower level was built in and extended out the back.

Every house is different, but the job usually runs in this order.
Drafters prepare plans to meet council requirements, and approvals go in.
The house is lifted and restumped at its new height.
A concrete slab is poured for the new lower level.
The lower level is framed and built in, and extended if you need more room.
New stairs, floors and joinery tie the two levels together.

With our design and construct service, we manage the whole house raise and build-in for you. We draw on a network of drafters and trades we've worked with for years, so you're not juggling separate companies for each stage.
You deal with Michael directly the whole way through. He has 25+ years on the tools, started M.Ewald Building in 2009, and around 80% of his work is on Queenslanders, pre-war homes and worker's cottages.
"His quote was very detailed and the costs transparent. During construction, we remained in the house and Michael was very accommodating of that, as well as our requests and queries during the build."
"M.Ewald Building recently completed my renovation (including large extension) and delivered a very high quality result."
"Michael also had the unenviable task of having to also restump part of the house which he found while doing the paving. The original job of stumping was a very poor quality job, however, Michael rectified that as part of the first job."
Based in Greenslopes, working on Queenslanders, pre-war homes and worker's cottages across Brisbane.
