Michael's Story

A carpenter first, and still hands-on.

Michael EwaldOwner & Licensed Builder

Michael finished his apprenticeship as a carpenter and joiner in 2003. He went on to work as a carpenter, leading hand and then site foreman for another Brisbane builder, where he learned the craft of replicating old work and blending it with new, so the join between the two disappears.

In 2009 he started M.Ewald Building. Today around 80% of his time goes into renovating and extending Queenslanders, some more than 130 years old with heritage and character controls, and he's still hands-on, especially with the timber work.

Those skills are hard to find, so Michael can be choosy about the jobs he takes on. If you expect quality and attention to detail, chances are you'll be a good match.
